Typing while it rains, the newfound luxury of something new.

Feels like ages ago when my first Mac broke down, just a few months though, you know when you’ve built a relationship and it just ends in a moment of surprise. That’s how it felt like. All these libraries visited instead to browse and to be educated on a variety of topics. It shows, my black boots are faded, I’m gonna keep them that way as a reminder of all the walking.

All the occasions where I stood under trees waiting for the rain to stop, one moment in particular at a cemetery when the rain slowly transformed into a sunny feel. When a moment feels like an eternity and you just wait, then the sun appears, what a transformation.

I have this beautiful brick church I use to sit by while drinking something hot and eating cinnamon rolls. It is surrounded by older houses, very charming and a great retreat from the modern structures by the Opera.

While the computer broke down, I got to live a little more vintage by spending the evenings filled with books. One thing I learned, you get to read tons.

Reminiscing in maps and coffee shops

When you suffer from Berlin withdrawals, was most likely not “chance” leading me to the coffee shop Hendrix Ibsen with a coffee shop in Berlin, Oslo kaffebar, around Nordbahnhof. One month in the big city, ironically, got to this first arriving in Oslo. Developed a habit of diving comfortably in a chair at Dussmann das KulturKaufhaus to open a book or letting the mind wander by the Vertikaler Garten. The latter, a vertical garden containing numerous plants, on cold December days provided a pleasant escape.

Thinking back on my new favorite things, first Treptower Park with the exciting abandoned Spreepark and Sowjetische Ehrenmal nearby. Imagining how it must be during summer, with a cold beverage or just strolling around. Another newcomer, Flakturm Humboldthain in Volkspark Humboldthain. Saw it in the BTNG music video “Gewachsen auf Beton” and something I just had to see. Traveled on a very tight budget, but this was part of the park Sunday I had.img_5210

City Summer

Pondered upon the Munich shooting on the conflicting narratives, what to believe is the narrative closest to the truth. Five years ago my capital Oslo (Utøya) suffered a bomb blast, and only two days after I went to see the damage. One theory in the Munich shooting links it to Anders B. Breivik according to the investigators  (a claim sounding modified according to this Tagesschau article) while CNN reportedly had an eyewitness “Loretta” describing the shooter having said “Allahu Akbar.”

Makes you wonder which is correct or if there is more to the story. Sentiments of empathy for the victims aside, pondering upon the narratives offers reflection. It´s a little early to have a precise opinion from my point of view, however welcomes more in-depth information on what appears to have been a planned shooting. Mittens and boots

February is coming, gone through a very cold period and staying inside been the natural choice. It´s been the kind of cold no layers of warm clothes could have embraced, most likely you would end up cold. This weekend the temperatures increased, you can witness the change from crisp powder snow to a more moist consistency. Admit it´s rather nice having yet another winter month behind, spring is such a lovely season up north. Watching the flowers blossom, look forward to the wonderful sight. IMG_2362Cookies

Sunset and the city

Wandering among Christmas decorations wearing a black, chic coat gave a pre-taste of December. The air cold but still friendly enough for some time outside admiring the different shades of fall, indeed a nice treat. Numerous leaves decorated the sidewalks with their summer coat tossed away, opting for a fresh yellow and brown hue.

It all ended blissfully gazing towards the sunset sitting down at my favorite spot in the city, together with many strangers capturing it on their phones and cameras. Fall is not as bad when admiring such a sight, little needed for a moment of happiness. A sunset is really all it takes.

A dress on the stroll

Was a when it´s summer and the temperature calls for a day strolling downtown Oslo kinda day. Took an extra peek at those charming, small wooden houses and read whatever historical I came across. Oslo has gotten its fair share of visits but there´s always something new to learn, you just gotta look for it. IMG_0091Cookies
